about us
MAAI means Mum. She is the heart of everything we do. Our mum, Rima, taught us that true hospitality isn’t about perfection. It’s about care, openness, and making people feel at home. Our house was always full, always noisy, and always welcoming. This is the foundation on which MAAI is built.
My sister, Isha, is the glue that holds our family together. She’s the calm presence, the organiser, the one who naturally brings people in and makes sure everyone feels included. She carries our family’s hospitality into every corner of MAAI, particularly through the bar, where she leads the cocktail programme with creativity, warmth, and instinct. Her drinks are thoughtful but delicious and playful.
My food is made for sharing around a dining table. My cooking uses the classical techniques I’ve learned from working in Michelin starred kitchens, but the flavours reflect the food we love to eat; bold, expressive, and shaped by the cultures and cuisines from the diasporas of London.
This is our take on modern British dining today; a deeply personal reflection of our family, our upbringing, and the city we call home.
Alongside the food and cocktails, our wine list focuses almost entirely on small, family run producers whose values mirror our own and who care deeply about what they create.
MAAI is, above all else, about hospitality. It’s about looking after people, creating a sense of belonging, and building a place that feels warm, relaxed, and alive, somewhere guests arrive as friends and leave feeling part of the family.
